Ensuring Reliability through Proactive Maintenance: A Successful Calorifier Inspection and Repair

During a routine annual inspection of a calorifier, we identified potential risks that could have led to a catastrophic failure, particularly considering the condition of the immersion heater. The inspection revealed that the external wear could be indicative of internal issues, potentially jeopardizing the system if disturbed.
To mitigate these risks, we took decisive action:
- Manufactured and fitted a new manhole plate.
- Installed a new immersion heater.
- Conducted a thorough visual inspection of the calorifier internals, which showed minimal scaling.
- Removed the scale, ensuring the system’s efficiency.
- Checked and upgraded electrical connections.
After these proactive measures, we successfully refilled the cylinder, performed leak checks, and powered up the immersion heater to ensure flawless operation.
